When does IPL 2027 start?

The IPL normally runs from late March to the end of May. In 2026, it started on 28 March and the final was played on 31 May, All India Radio and NewsX reported.

For 2027, the BCCI wants an earlier window. "From next season, IPL could start as early as March 10 and finish by May 15 to avoid adverse weather conditions," BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told ANI, NewsX reported. He told PTI that hot weather is "not very conducive" for players and crowds, and that rain after mid-May can disrupt the playoffs and final, Sunday Guardian reported.

The season can only start once India's home Test series against Australia, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, is over, and some overseas players may arrive late because of their own countries' fixtures in March, Sunday Guardian reported. Some reports, including one carried by Yahoo Sports, put the 2027 window at 14 March to 30 May, but describe those dates as unconfirmed.

Our best answer today: IPL 2027 is expected to start in March 2027, with the final in May.

IPL 2026 recap

Royal Challengers Bengaluru won IPL 2026, beating Gujarat Titans by five wickets in the final in Ahmedabad on 31 May, The Statesman and other outlets reported. It was RCB's second title in a row, after 2025. RCB had opened the 2026 season at home against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 28 March, under captain Rajat Patidar.

IPL 2027 tickets

Tickets go on sale only after the schedule is announced, usually a few weeks before each team's first home match. They are sold through the official ticketing partners listed on the IPL website and each team's official website and social media. Avoid social media posts and websites offering IPL 2027 tickets before the schedule is out. They cannot be genuine, and fans lose money to such scams every season.

Where to find the official schedule
